Arbequina

The arbequina is characterized by a great resistance to cold, a very low vigor and a low resistance to calcareous soils. The size of its fruit is the smallest of the varieties grown in Spain, weighing between one and two grams.

Regarding its distribution, we can find plantations in the communities of Catalonia, Aragon and Andalusia in Spain, in the Maule area in Chile, La Rioja in Argentina, Minas Gerais in Brazil and recently in areas of the Maldonado and Minas mountain ranges in Uruguay. It is the basis of modern intensive plantations since its low vigor allows a high density of plants, reaching 2,000 plants per hectare in some plantations.

Arbequina extra virgin olive oil presents fruity scents of banana and apple.

Koroneiki

Koroneiki is a variety of olive tree (European olea) from Greece, also known by the synonyms of Koroni, Kritikia, Landolia and Psylolia.

Its cultivation is mainly centered in the north of Crete and in the southwest of the Peloponnese, occupying between 50 and 60% of the country's olive area. It is currently beginning to be planted in many other countries due to its good adaptation to super intensive cultivation.

Its cultivation spread in Spain, especially in the Mediterranean arc around 2009, although it has not yet superseded Arbequina in super intensive cultivation.
